This paper argues that our conceptualization of, discourse about, and even our experience of musical motion depends on the logic of the three most important metaphors of musical motion: the "MOVING MUSIC" metaphor, the "MUSICAL LANDSCAPE" metaphor, and the "MOVING FORCE" metaphor.
