Annotation

This paper reports three studies that examine whether there is a bilingual advantage in the development of phonological awareness. The studies involve Spanish–English and Chinese-English bilingual and English monolingual children between kindergarten and Grade 2. The findings are discussed in terms of a limit on the effect of bilingualism on metalinguistic development.
