Annotation

This paper uses stanza analysis to examine the conversational narratives of a group of Japanese children aged 5 to 9. The narratives' distinctive characteristics reflect the basic features of 'haiku', a commonly practiced literary form and have to be understood within the broader context of Japanese children's "empathy" training.
