This study examines compositional regularities in informal face-to-face conversations of educated, adult British speakers, using data from the London-Lund corpus. It is shown that the four lexical properties of evaluative meaning, denotative vagueness, lexical intensity and lexical expressivity are encoded in the greater part of these informal units.
