An examination of how the solution of a linguistic problem depends on whether it is the sentence or discourse that serves as the vantage point for the analysis. The advantage of the discourse perspective is shown in an analysis accounting for both 'normal' and 'abnormal' uses of pronouns in Spanish prepositional phrases.
