Annotation

This study concludes that cognitive/academic first language proficiency, and within the subvariables of language use, register and ability to correct second language errors, are the main factors in predicting success in foreign language acquisition in a school context. The reported example discusses differential achievements in English foreign language acquisition by culturally advantaged versus culturally disadvantaged Hebrew speakers in Israeli schools.
