Annotation

This paper sketches the development of the first fully Irish radio service, Raidió na Gaeltachta (RNG), established in 1972, and discusses its role in the preservation and spread of the Irish language. It is argued that cultural dependency might in the long-run force the RNG to allow some use of English.
