This collection includes 11 papers proposed at the 6th Sociolinguistics Conference, held at Antwerp University in 1986. Five papers address aspects of the Flemish language situation; six papers comment on language and intergroup relations in the Netherlands. The introduction situates the papers in the broader context of Belgian and Dutch sociolinguistic studies.
