This paper examines the interactional presentation of a novel antenatal screening procedure for Down’s syndrome, referred to as nuchal translucency (NT) screening. A conversation analytic approach is applied to the data, with a focus on the ways in which screening is introduced, discussed and accounted for by the people involved.
