This paper proposes a critical discourse analysis of the by Franco imposed fascist elementary school textbook 'Así quiero ser', combining the Bakhtinian concept of authoritative discourse with other perspectives for the study of persuasive discourse and taking into consideration both the sociopolitical context of the era and the didactic literature genre.
