Annotation

It is argued that although gesture shaping is linked to the conceptual and semantic aspects of the accompanying speech, naïve listeners cannot unambiguously interpret gestures. The distinction between iconic and indefinite gestures appears to be backed by the participants' differential ability to interpret them.
