Annotation

The author states that much of Vervaeke and Kennedy's responses to his own writings was based on a serious misunderstanding and investigates the origins of the misunderstanding in a difference between their respective approaches to theorizing and a consequent breakdown of common ground. It is argued that metaphors must be examined in a cognitive and communicative context, regardless of whether the interpreter has any prior knowledge of the topic.
