This paper presents a generative analysis for the specific language contact phenomenon of indirect transfer. The analysis focuses on Klein’s research on synthetic/analytic verb forms, employed to express progressive aspect in Spanish, where contact with English distorts the distribution of the use of analytic forms in a bilingual variety as compared to a similar monolingual variety.
