This paper discusses some major advantages of extensive authentic writing in English Language Teaching situations. Such writing, as e.g. writing for the BBC World Service "Short Story" programme, is both authentic and communicative, encourages acquisition via related reading and listening activities and improves the learner-teacher relationship.
