This study argues that the extreme Islamophobic rhetoric of the Russian-Israeli Orientalist discourse, according to which today Israel, Russia, and the West share a common Islamic 'enemy', enables Russian-Israeli intellectuals to reassert their cultural ties with their country of origin, and to increase the validity of their self-image as part of Western culture.
