Annotation

This paper presents the tension between two conflicting views on the role of 'identity politics' via an analysis of the ways in which young Ethiopian Jews, whose parents immigrated to Israel in the late 1980s and early 1990s, have negotiated their own specific identity as a result of the encounter with Israeli society and its processes of exclusion, discrimination, and control.
