This paper reports the results of a case study of a talk show in the Dialogue series, produced and screened by the Chinese Central Television. It is argued that there is no sufficient evidence to support the claims that Chinese television, represented by the Dialogue series, is democratized as a viewer-friendly participatory mass medium.
