Annotation

This study examines the dilemma of professional Japanese women in authority positions in choosing between powerful talk in accordance with their occupational status and culturally prescribed feminine speech. It is argued that co-constitutive relationships between language and context help to explain the manipulation of linguistic power in these cases.
