Annotation

This paper argues that language planning and policy research, often too much top-down centered, should adopt a situated approach in examining English and its link to vernacular languages in non-Western educational settings. The case sample presented here involves a longitudinal ethnographic study of English-medium and vernacular-medium education in Gujarat, India.
