This paper deals with translation of news texts and the global-local dichotomy as global news texts get distributed and translated or tailored for ‘sub-locales’ with a linguistic and political identity. It then discusses the typical case of the Italian press, demonstrating how global news reports are both interlinguistically localised and intralinguistically adjusted to readers' political leanings.
