Annotation

This paper describes how a small rural Māori-medium school in New Zealand, where pupils were highly literate in Māori, but experienced reading and writing problems in English on their entry to English-medium secondary schools, introduced and ultimately maintained a very efficient 10-week culturally appropriate English reading and writing programme for school and home usage.
