Annotation

This paper deals with the marginalization of women's humor in everyday life, in scientific models, and in humor theories. Four joking dimensions are identified as specifically gender sensitive: status, aggressiveness, social alignment, and sexuality. For these fields , research is summarized from the fifties up to the present, illustrating historical changes in humor's gender order. Gender still continues to influence humor.
