Annotation

This paper examines pragmatic effects of televised media communication about politics. It is shown how a Dutch television program, broadcast on April 8, 1994, on suspected tax fraud in a financial company, also casts doubt on Elco Brinkman, head of the then largest Dutch political party of the Christian Democrats, member of the board of the company, although he is explicitly declared innocent in the matter.
