This article examines Hebrew-language narratives of girls belonging to a Yiddish-speaking ultra-orthodox minority group in Israel, in order to find out what role Hebrew plays in their lives, what its ideological context is and how language development and use among ethnolinguistic minorities may show deeper thought and emotion layers.
