Annotation

This paper examines whether national and professional identities and the interaction medium (for example: e-mails), influence the way in which Turkish and British conference organizers initiate their Call for Papers for international conferences, and when and how they employ inclusive ‘we’ pronouns in written English messages. It also investigates whether there is a link between these three factors and the interpretation of (im)politeness.
