This paper argues that the African moral philosophy ubuntuism cannot be considered a focused effort yet to generate a comprehensive theory to measure media performance from 'an African perspective'. It should rather be regarded in the light of post-apartheid African Renaissance as an intellectual quest to rediscover and reconstruct idealized traditional African cultural and communal values and an attempt to adopt it to contemporary phenomena such as mass media.
