Annotation

This paper demonstrates that there is no consensus amongst Mauritians as to whether or not Mauritian Creole, which is now excluded from the education system, should be introduced in schools. The study also highlights the two distinct roles of Mauritian Creole, i.e. as a national language and as an ethnic language associated with Creole identity.
