Annotation

This study examines how the existence of two language varieties affects contact-induced language change in cases of bilingualism. By exploring language contact between French and Tunisian Arabic on the one hand, and Spanish and Northern Moroccan Arabic on the other, this paper exemplifies how the coexistence of diglossia and bilingualism within the same speech community simplifies foreign language interference into the low variety of the local system.
