This paper on language planning in a multilingual post-colonial country, explores Mozambique leaders' choice to implement a bilingual educational system in primary schools from 1993 onwards, which involves Bantu languages' revitalisation and the need to address cultural identity issues among speakers of languages formerly only considered fit for dogs.
