This article discusses language planning and personal naming in Lithuania since independence restoration in 1990. It explores corpus planning challenges, focusing on personal names' use and standardisation. The article further considers the traditional and the new alternative women's surnames model and the way in which these models highlight marital status. Finally, the article discusses regulations on the spelling of foreign names in different text types, and research on foreign name attitudes.
