Annotation
This analysis of a curriculum intervention project, aiming at introducing new "educationally effective" discussion forms into the primary classroom, argues that one has to take into account how talk is employed for a series of purposes in specific interactions, as well as the different personal reactions of pupils in handling the acquired communicative strategies. Context-dependency, variability and potential vagueness of utterance meaning constitute important challenges for the implementation and evaluation of such projects.
