Annotation

This paper reconsiders key elements of the multilingual communication model (Sachdev and Bourhis 2001, 2005) as they concern the Francophone majority and the Anglophone minority in Quebec. Communication accommodation theory is employed to explore the intergroup, normative, and social psychological determining factors of bilingual codeswitching behaviors. Finally, the paper presents Montreal field studies from 1977 to 1997 on language accommodation.
