Drawing on secondary data concerning mass-media audience, this paper explores the situation of the exceptionally rich Swedish-language media in Finland concerning production and reception in relation to ethnolinguistic vitality and provides conceptual tools for relating media consumption analysis to sociolinguistic concepts.
