This analysis of humorous narratives told by 4 bilingual women in interaction with native English speakers, demonstrate an overall pattern of narrators' positive self-portrayal, as a ways, it is suggested, to build solidarity among themselves and handle the marginalization that many L2 speakers suffer due to their nonnative speaker status.
