Annotation

An attempt to show that there is a systematic relationship between what a speaker of a language does in uttering a sentence, and the syntactic form of that utterance; the attempt is based on speech act theory. Contains discussions concerning illocutionary acts and felicity conditions, indirect illocutionary acts, qualification of illocutionary acts, presuppositions, and invited inferences.
