Critical discourse and social actor analyses disclose that positive representations of ethnic minorities in The Leicester Mercury, seizing multiculturalism and antiracism via a 'talking cure', for the greater part hide the real structural reasons for this positive portrayal and their role in avoiding rioting, viz. answering the ideology of an advertiser-driven commercial newspaper.
