This paper compares and contrasts pro- and anti-whaling discourses in British and Japanese newspaper reports. They appear to use different discourse strategies, as the former commonly employ a more emotive-provocative tone, whilst the latter employ a more restrained-factual tone and the topic also tends to be dealt with under varying cultural values.
