This study demonstrates that the particular portrayal of the older worker as male and lacking self-esteem, is enhanced by discursive manoeuvres that brought about comparative disadvantage among varying identities. Thus it shows the relationship between specific identity constructions, discourse and specific institutional structures' reproduction.
