It is argued that non-Western, non-White, and Third-World discourses ought to become a legitimate, indispensable, and routine part of international language, communication, and discourse studies. The rhetoric of universalism is deconstructed and the cultural nature of discourse is stressed. The complexity, variety, and otherness forms of non-Western discourse are then investigated by analyzing Chinese and Hong Kong decolonization discourses.
