Annotation

The contributions to this volmue use discourse analysis to trace the history of the concepts of 'degenerate art' and 'German art' from their emergence in the 18th century up to their deontic potential attributed by the National Socialist criticism of literature and art. It is shown how in the Third Reich, these two concepts were employed orally and textually as footing for excommunication of artists and the burning of paintings.
