This contrastive politico-linguistic analysis examines the semantic operations that serve particular discourse strategies in political speeches by representatives of the extreme left in Russia and Germany between 1914 and 1919, such as Lenin, Trotsky, Karl Liebknecht and Rosa Luxemburg, focusing on concepts and catchwords with a special effect in the language employed by the extreme left in reacting against the moderate social democrats.
