The contributions to this volume discuss specific grammatical fields within the framework of subjectivity and subjectification, empirically based on extensive data from Dutch, English, German, Spanish, Greek, and Asian languages. The main question is whether the two major approaches -those of Langacker and Traugott- can be integrated or not. Issues of subjectivity-objectivity, neutrality and intersubjectivity are also discussed.
