This volume examines theoretical and empirical controversies concerning research on Mixed Languages. Studied topics include: definitions and prototypes, similarities and differences with regard to other contact languages, the role of codeswitching in their emergence, deliberate and conscious mixing, the possible existence of a Mixed Language continuum, and the position of Mixed Languages in language change models and specifically in contact-induced change.
