The contributions to this volume deal with 'Germanistic linguistics', a by Helmut Henne and others established subject in the early 1970s. The four chapters of the volume celebrate the richness of language, dealing respectively with: semantics and lexicography; past, present and future group languages; the linguistics of conversation; and language history and literary linguistics.
