This collected volume explores the sustained processes of german-roman cultural synthesis in the late Classical Age and Early Middle Ages in Europe, through the contact and mutual impact of various languages, institutions and traditions, caused by the Franks' political unification of large parts of (Central and Western) Europe and the variety of further imperial formations.
