This volume is divided into three main sections: theory, colonialism and postcolonialism. The essays in the first section discuss notions of "otherness" and cultural difference, and the colonialist implications of pedagogic practice. The second section deals with the colonialist mind-set in both children's and youngsters' texts, from around the turn of the century. The third section handles actual children's texts that demonstrate both a post- and a neo-colonial content.
