This interdisciplinary collection explores the historical and theoretical links between new advances in discourse studies and suggests new future directions. Recent developments include e.g. a more 'critical' turn in discourse analysis, an increased interest in historical, ethnographic and corpus-based discourse approaches, more concern with social contexts, social actions and identity construction.
