This work on the referring power of names, investigates the reference of lexical terms -in particular proper names and pronouns- and the theme of empty or speculative names like 'Satan' and 'leptons'. Reference is accounted for in explicitly non-semantical terms, reflecting current research in linguistics and brain biology, cognitive science, philosophy of mind and computational logic.
