Annotation

This book proposes an original approach to the 'ethnosyntax' concept, which asserts that a language's grammar is closely related to its speakers' culture. It emphasizes three related questions: to what extent does culture explain linguistic variation; how are culture and grammar related; and in how far can the one constitute the other. The subject is addressed in the context of a variety of cultures in Europe, North America, and Australasia.
