Drawing on linguistics, biological anthropology, and cognitive science, this study examines the origins and early evolution of syntax, semantics and phonology. It addresses the nature of pre- and proto-linguistic exchange, the internal and external triggers defining its transformation into language, and the possible evolution of language after its inception.
